Dental Assistants for Santa Fe Dental Clinic
(may rotate to 2 outlying satellite clinics (Santa Clara Health Center and Cochiti Health Clinic)
Contract begins approximately 5/1/2025
1 base year and 4 option years
Hours are M-F 8a to 4:30p
Candidates must have the following:
Mandatory Professional Credentials: Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant Certificate (CDA) from a CODA accredited dental assistant program, approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Graduate: The contractor must be a graduate of a CODA accredited dental assistant program.
License/Registration: All dental assistants must possess a current DANB CDA certificate in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
Experience: The Contractor must have twenty-four (24) months of dental assisting experience, unless otherwise the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Duties:
The Contractor shall provide Dental Assistant services in supporting the Santa Fe Indian Health Center Dental Clinic and Outlying Satellite Dental Clinics (as needed).
Perform chair side assisting duties which encompass all routine dental procedures in general dentistry.
Must be able to properly record all treatments rendered to patients in Dentrix – dental charting and clinical notes.
Assists in cleaning, packaging and sterilizing all dental instruments, and for proper storage of instruments not in use.
Prepare patient and operatory for proper dental procedure including setting up the appropriate Instruments for the planned procedures.
Knowledgeable about all dental instruments, materials, and routine procedures in restorative, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal treatment.
Knowledgeable about operating dental x-ray equipment to take Intra and extra -oral digital radiograph films.
Assists in providing routine prophylaxis or polishing teeth, topical fluoride treatment and places pit and fissure sealants as prescribed by the dentist. Performs routine dental laboratory procedures, including pouring and trimming models, fabricating occlusal guards.
Assist in taking and recording blood pressure.
Keeping the clinic well-supplied by requisitioning supplies and equipment and keeping supply inventory.
Assists in providing patient education and instruction in prevention of oral disease and in post-treatment procedures.
Assists in maintaining the dental clinic in a clean and operative condition. Provide routine and preventative maintenance on all dental equipment.
Will be required to have long periods of standing, walking, sitting and bending as required.
